Merlijn Hermsen is a screenwriter and director based in Rotterdam. He is currently studying audiovisual design at the willem de kooning academy. His work is typified by its focus on abstract portrayals of the current human experience. He searches for honesty and rawness in his films and communicates with these his beliefs about equality, mental health and todays consumption culture.

Merlijn is interested in working in a progressive and innovative manner and is not afraid to stand on the edge. He is interested in being involved in the whole creative process of filmmaking: from concept development, to writing the screenplay, to directing on set.
